American singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams is one of the promises of indie and dream pop. Music daughter of Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Joni Mitchell, Abrams is set to be one of the leading figures of the future pop scene.

Gracie Abrams: The Promise And Heir Of Indie Pop

Recent discovery of the indie and dream pop scene, Gracie Abrams is a 23 years old singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. Notably, in 2019, the artist rose to fame with her “Mean It,” and since then she never stopped.

Abrams is born a nepo-baby of American filmmaker and composer Jeffrey Jacob Abrams and film and television producer Katie McGrath. Gracie Abrams demonstrates her skills proving that she deserves all her success. Then, after the release of her first EP, minor, the artist showed the world her incredible songwriting and vocal abilities.  

With her sophisticated light voice and powerful lyrics, Abrams caught the attention of many. Arriving on the scene in 2019, then releasing singles like “Alright” and “minor.” Fast forward to her latest 2021 album, This Is What It Feels Like, confirming her position in the indie pop scene. Following three years post her first release, she is always closer to becoming the certain heir of dream pop and indie pop.

In her music indie, pop and folk influences are recognizable. From Elliott Smith to Simon & Garfunkel, Elvis Costello to Bon Iver, Gracie Abrams got her roots from the main folk artists and the genre’s pioneers. Abrams mixes her pop indie interests, expressing her inspiration from musicians like Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and James Blake. In particular, her singing tones and expressive methods, resemble New Zealand singer and songwriter, Lorde. And the admiration wasn’t one way only. In fact, other artists like Post Malone, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo, have expressed her admiration for the artist.

Gracie Adams At ‘The Eras Tour’

Among the other lucky artists, Gracie Abrams was also announced to be one of the names to open Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour.” The artist will join Swift on stage for thirty nights, meaning almost the entire tour (which presents 32 nights).

Other eight acts will take part to the tour – excluding Swift herself. From well-established Paramore and HAIM, Swift’s stages will also welcome niche artists girl in red and Phoebe Bridgers.
