Ed Sheeran Partners With Pokémon For “Celestial”

Global pop English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran partnered with Pokémon for the new single “Celestial,” which features a music video with the musician and the characters of the popular franchise.

Ed Sheeran Achieves His Dream Collaboration on “Celestial”

Ed Sheeran has done it again. He has truly demonstrated that he can do it all, but this time, he definitely left us speechless. He just released his new single “Celestial,” which talks about being in love with someone that sadly lives far away, but feeling connected to that person thanks to the sky, the clouds, and the stars.

The music video for the song, though, goes on a different route. But don’t worry, it’s an even better one! In it, we can see Ed on a normal day in his life – waking up, cooking breakfast, going for a walk, visiting the park, and of course, getting back home to record a new song. But while doing all of these activities, he’s not alone – he has all of our favorite Pokémon characters by his side, accompanying him as he goes by with his day.

He Has Been a Pokémon Fan Since Being a Kid

“I started off with Pokémon cards when the craze hit primary school when I was about 7,” Ed says. “Then the tv show was on tv so I used to try and record it over the same VHS every week. After this me and my brother shared a game boy and Pokémon blue. I got a game boy color with Pokémon yellow for my 8th birthday, obsessed was an understatement. Flash forward to me at 31 I still have the same game boy color and still I play Pokémon silver on long haul flights. I really really love it. It gave me a proper escape as a kid into a fantasy world that seemed to go on and on, and in adult life it’s nostalgia that makes me feel like a kid again.”

“Celestial” will be featured in a pair of upcoming video games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, which will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 18. To this news, Ed adds, “It’s such an honor to add a song to a Pokémon game and shoot a nostalgic video too. I hope you guys enjoy the song and video – it was a blast to film!”

Ed Sheeran is not the only artist that has partnered with Pokémon for projects recently. Katy Perry and Post Malone also fulfilled their dreams while creating music videos with their cute characters!
