Coachella 2022 Highlights

Ah Coachella, the yearly festival in California showcasing established artists and newcomers alike. With the pandemic being as weird as ever, this time on the bright side of things, it’s time to rock. With week 2 wrapped up, it’s time to look back at what made this year’s Coachella so worth it.

The Return of the King:

Starting off Coachella with a subversion: Danny Elfman. For those who don’t know Danny Elfman… how? Secondly, Elfman is a prolific and established figure within the film industry with a rock n’ roll past. This makes for the best of both worlds with  his cinematic set. Including songs from his time as the frontman for Oingo Boingo and his films like “Batman,” “The Simpsons” and “Spider-Man.” You already imagine how epic that was to witness.

The Prodigal Son Returns:

Joji is one who’s made an incredible and genuine splash within the music industry. From his time as a YouTuber to the, now, radically unapologetically sincere. Joji went dark for a bit after “The Extravaganza”; fans not knowing what would come next for the singer. Well, he’s back with Coachella, commanding the stage and pouring his soul out. With songs like “Slow Dance in the Dark” and “Sanctuary” it’s a wonderful sight to behold. I personally can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

The Man Trapped in the Radio:

Few are able to shake up a crowd and get them singing when there’s an opening of echoes. The Weeknd is one of these people. Coming hot off the recent release of the music video for “Out of Time” and the success of Dawn FM. Abel built up a crowd to the point of them pouring their lungs out with “Save Your Tears.” He also performed his verse from the wildly beautiful “Hurricane” followed by an oh-so-familiar sound: the opening of “The Hills.” Safe to say this was a trip.

The Baddest Bitch from the South:

From debuting her latest single, “Plan B”, live in the first weekend to keeping the train going. The ever-so strong figure that is Megan Thee (Motherfuckin’) Stallion continues to impress.  She certainly hit the stage the most meticulous dance moves. Add in the fact that she kept runnin’ her greatest hits, this Coachella crowd sure got that bad bitch energy. Little is left to say aside from the already established fact that she oozes fun.

The Man Rebuilding:

Harry Styles is as well-known an artist as the rest on this set of highlights. His most recent recent success with “As It Was” was seen on full display as the crowd sung along fully. With the newest album, Harry’s House, on its way the biggest surprise was the return of an oldie.  No one expected who it was plus the choice of cover performed was something no one expected. Lizzo joined the stage and together they sang One Direction hit “What Makes You Beautiful!” Aside from that he also went on to sing the classic “I will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor.

All in all it was a wonderful festival! That’s it for now! For more on your favorites and unknown check out our Word and Drops sections.
