Bree Runway Releases “Somebody Like You”

"Somebody Like You" single coverBree Runway Announces EP and New Single

London singer and rapper, Bree Runway, returns with the release of her latest single “Somebody Like You.”  According to Runway, the track is a part of a three song project.  On Twitter she says, “3 tracks that couldn’t sum me up any better and re-affirms that bree can be on ANYTHING at ANYTIME.”  The single follows the lead track “Pressure” from earlier this year.  Altogether, the short project titled “Trilogy EP” will include the two latest songs, and the unreleased “Booty.”

An Ode To The Future

The track definitely shows how Runway can make any style of track her own.  On “Pressure” we saw her work with afro-beat sounds to create a confident and playful anthem.  With “Somebody Like You” Runway completely changes her style around.  The song is a power-ballad style track and message to her future lovers.  Speaking about the track she says it is, “an ode to my future lover, in a generation where love and relationships have become so transactional, I’m still preserving myself for the real thing.”

Runway sings, “If I had another chance at life, baby, I would say yes and do this twice / Hoping our worlds will collide, I’m embracing this paradise” on the song.  It’s a slow burning song full of drama and emotion.  “[On] ‘Somebody like you’ – he is also like me, he will see value in a love that can’t be bought, it simply just is. It can be such an empty, soulless generation but in all of that I am still sure there is a precious diamond in all the dirt for me,” she says of the meaning within the song.  Altogether, the song is a more vulnerable side to Bree Runway that we have not seen.  Check out the single by watching the music video below.
