A Sure Chart-Topper
Notably, #ItWasAMaskedChristmas is marketed as a legitimate Christmas single. We’ve seen Fallon do plenty of sketches and bits involving holiday tunes, but this track may truly be a chart-topper. Not only is Jimmy Fallon one of, if not the biggest names in the late-night entertainment industry, Ariana and Meg are superstars in their own right. Ariana Grande’s most recent collaboration with The Weeknd, the “Save Your Tears” remix, skyrocketed through the music charts. Megan Thee Stallion’s recent features on BTS’ “Butter” and Maroon 5’s “Beautiful Mistakes” made waves as well. This unlikely trio is guaranteed to keep it interesting, so of course “It Was A… (Masked Christmas)” is a Christmas bop.
Playful Twist on Holiday Music
Before the premiere on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy gave us all the details on how the collaboration happened. He also gushes about his admiration for Ariana and Meg and his surprise at their agreement to join. “It Was A… (Masked Christmas)” premiered for the first time on Jimmy’s show. Of course, fans also watched its music video. In it, Fallon and Grande sport Christmas gear as they stand in line for booster shots. Dancing mask monsters and fluffy dogs join Megan Thee Stallion in her appearance as well. “It Was A… (Masked Christmas)” is a playful twist on holiday singles. Jimmy Fallon and Ariana Grande harmonize over getting their booster shots and last year’s quarantine Christmas. Megan Thee Stallion also raps about a non-masked Christmas – one where she hangs out under the mistletoe.
Jimmy Fallon brings joy this holiday season as he creates a meaningful yet amusing single. The star-studded track is a must-listen if you want to get into that wintry, yuletide spirit. Be sure to check back into Music Daily for more new Christmas music!
