Are You Feelin’ Her? Ice Spice & Her Rise To Fame

"I'm a baddie, I get what I want like," Ice Spice raps.

By now, a lot of people probably have heard of New York’s newest slang: “munch.” The originator, Ice Spice, entered the rap scene with, well, spice! In early August of 2022, her song “Munch (Feelin’ U)” began receiving a lot of attention. Audiences became fond of the catchy chorus: “You thought I was feelin’ you? / That n***a a munch / N***a a eater, he eat it for lunch / B***h I’m a baddie, I get what I want like,” Ice Spice raps.

Ice Spice, born Isis Gaston, is a Bronx native and currently 23 years old. The rapper just started making music last year, and already has a co-sign from the 6ix God himself, Drake. In fact, the Certified Lover Boy hitmaker slid into the DM’s, giving props on Ice Spice’s hit and offering to fly her out to Toronto.

Since “Munch (Feelin’ U)” was released on August 10, the YouTube video has garnered over 25 million views. Ice Spice has fully hit the gas pedal on releasing music in the past year as well, with already multiple singles out. Some singles include “Name Of Love,” “Bikini Bottom,” “Euphoric,” and “In Ha Mood.”

Ice Spice Climbs To The Top

Additionally, the artist is very active on her socials. Especially on Triller and TikTok where she mostly twerks, has fun with family or friends, and spits bars. Not only are her songs catchy, but her looks catch the attention of many people too. The
“Bikini Bottom” rapper rocks bright ginger curls and often times cute, revealing outfits to enhance the body-ody-ody! There’s a reason why she raps about munches!

Then on September 23, 2022, Ice Spice was invited on stage by Fivio Foreign during his 2022 Rolling Loud set. The rap newbie performed “Munch (Feelin’ U),” and many of the audience members had mixed reactions. It was one of her first times on stage in front of a huge audience and she did it to the best of her ability. As of lately, she’s getting used to the fame and getting her name out there more.

Back in May 2022, Ice Spice made an appearance on the On The Radar Radio. The diva pulled out an impressive freestyle that you can watch here:

Next, in June, she worked with Converse x Foot Locker for Black Music Month. In talking with them, Ice Spice expressed “I started making music seriously last year. I feel the most creative when I’m at home, probably listening to beats, or watching music videos.” She even had an interview with The Rolling Stone in November of 2022!

Undoubtedly, the 23 year old has really made her way up in the matter of a few months. With her likability and potential talent, she can definitely make it even further. We can’t wait to see what Ice Spice does next on her road to the top!
