A$AP Rocky Announces Yams Day is Virtual on Jan. 18

On Monday, January 18, A$AP Rocky and A$AP Mob will be hosting their 6th annual Yams Day  virtually. The Hip-hop collective from Harlem was founded by A$AP Yams who died in 2015 due to an accidental overdose. Every year since his death, the mob has put on amazing concerts to honor him. The concert also happens to be on Martin Luther King Jr. Day as well.

A$AP Mob members posts videos that included A$AP Rocky going around New York hyping people up about the well-known event going virtual.

Yams Day 2020 brought big names like Young M.A., slowthai, Tyler the Creator and more to the stage. Although there is not a completed set list for the show yet, expect to see some major hip-hop influencers to pop up.

A$AP Rocky posted a trailer for this year that teased an awards ceremony called the Yammys instead of the Grammys. He then confirmed this new award show on his twitter account.

The concert has not put out any specifics besides what day it is happening, but I would by January 18 the stream would be available on YouTube or The Yams Day website.

As far as A$AP Rocky himself, this is his first post on Instagram after erasing all his other pictures. I imagine it is somewhat of a rebranding for a new album in the works for 2021.

I love the idea of the Yammy’s and it should be interesting how it will do in the courtroom. However the idea of a new Grammy’s could become popularized. Especially after the recent event of  The Weeknd Snub and speculation of corruption, it would be nice to see a change in music awards.
