The final dates of Paramore’s tour are canceled over singer Hayley William’s lung infection. The band released a statement from Hayley that you can read below.
Paramore’s Statement
“After my lung infection forced us to postpone four shows, I was hoping a week off of performing and a strict medicine routine would allow my body to heal enough to finish off the tour strong. I have been doing everything to fight this infection so we wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancellations. After struggling through the last few shows and consulting with my doctor, we’re unfortunately realizing it’s past the point of wanting to push through to put on a cool show for all of you. I’m now risking long-term damage. I need to pay attention to my body. With that in mind with a heavy heart, we have to cancel our remaining shows in both Portland and Salt Lake City. Refunds will be available at point of purchase. We are so sorry to all of you who were so patient with us as we rescheduled these and likely rearranged travel plans to still come out. I physically cannot go on. I know this isn’t great news for anyone. Thank you so much for your continued support.”
Props to Hayley for going on as long as she could. Taking a real break to save her voice is the better decision. Not only for herself but for Paramore’s fans as well. The lead singer ruining their voice is a nightmare no band wants to live through. Especially with vocals as iconic as Hayley’s.
The last couple of years are showing us singers need a break. Whether it’s Alex Turner, Shawn Mendes, Lewis Capaldi, Orville Peck, or Hayley Williams. Whether it’s for a mental break or physical, pushing yourself too hard isn’t good for anyone. These days fans are more respectful of tour postponements. It sucks, but it’s better for your favorite singer to not fall apart for the sake of a concert.
