After wrapping up the Red Moon In Venus album cycle, Kali Uchis drops the explosive single “Muñekita,” featuring City Girls’ JT and Dembow icon El Afa. In July, Uchis previewed the song on Instagram and Tiktok with the A-list features slowly revealed in the coming weeks.
In a pink-themed Instagram post, the Colombian singer-songwriter thanks JT and El Afa while confirming a new era. “With great pride, I am starting this new era with you and two artists I admire a lot,” she says. “Thank you both for being a part of this. I love bringing artists together that no one would expect. TO A NEW ERA, CHEERS!
Although “Muñekita” has a feisty Dembow-influenced reggaetón beat, Uchis revealed the album’s dominant genre isn’t reggaetón. Instead, this release signals “a new era of Spanish-language music,” according to the press release.
“El Alfa is a Latino legend, and JT is someone I’ve admired forever,” she said in the press release. “Both of them are known for their summer hits and high energy, so I’m incredibly excited to bring them together for a fun, sexy song like this.”
The song’s visualizer echoes the same pink McBling-inspired aesthetic from the single’s photoshoot. Uchis and JT look bodacious while relaxing in a car under cherry blossoms, with quick snapshots of El Afa remotely rapping his verse in a separate set.
This collaboration follows Red Moon in Venus and its namesake promotional tour— which recently got additional dates– with supporting acts Tokischa and Buscabulla on select dates. She will also play Austin City Limits in October. Check out the new dates below, and grab your tickets here.
