The Chainsmokers and Illenium Release ‘See You Again’

On Friday, June 23rd, EDM duo The Chainsmokers and popular DJ Illenium teamed up to release “See You Again.” This is the second time the two have teamed up to make music, releasing “Takeaway” back in 2019, which received half a billion streams on Spotify.

With their two styles, the song brings out an angsty break-up anthem with an electropunk twist. The lyrics also feature another collaboration with alternative pop artist Charlie Hanson. The new track was first performed at Illenium’s trilogy concert, a record-breaking show with a crowd of 45,000 people.

Commenting on the experience, Drew Taggart of the Chainsmokers told EDM, “This is one of the biggest moments – if not the biggest moment – for American EDM music that we’ve ever seen.” Even with its recent release, EDM and the Chainsmokers predict it might be “even mightier than its predecessor.”

Before performing the second collaboration, the Chainsmokers kept teasing out the new track on social media. Once it got to the masses, everyone was ecstatic, which built momentum going into the big night. The song was one of the highlights of the night, especially for an unforgettable performance on a historic night.

The new track marks the third release in three months for the Chainsmokers, following “Up and Down” and “Self Destruction Mode.” For the rest of this summer, both artists will continue to play at shows around the US and the World. The Chainsmokers will have another big summer show in Los Angeles in August. They will then go back to Colorado in September. Illenium, on the other hand, will continue his historic tour throughout the US and Canada.
