Tegan & Sara Cover ‘Girls Talk’ & Release Graphic Novel “Junior High”

Tegan and Sara have a lot up their sleeves: a cover song for television shows and a new graphic novel.

Tegan and Sara Sing “Girls Talk” for Season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Canadian indie pop duo Tegan and Sara have released their cover of “Girls Talk.” Sung by Dave Edmunds, the original came out in 1979. Tegan and Sara put their own spin on the song for the final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been on Amazon Prime Video for five years now. It was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, who is most known for creating a timeless favorite—Gilmore Girls.

Dave Edmunds’ “Girls Talk” played in the first episode of the Prime Video series and has since become an iconic song for the fans. Having Tegan and Sara sing a cover of the song for the end of the show gave the fans an extra level of happy closure. An Instagram post from maiseltv and teganandsara describes the song cover as “A perfect send-off song from Tegan and Sara.”

Their Upcoming Graphic Novel—Junior High

Aside from singing classic songs for award-winning shows, Tegan and Sara have released their second graphic novel. Junior High is a prequel to their 2019 memoir High School. It’s about the twins’ lives as they grew up: learning how to play music, learning how to evolve their sisterly relationship as they grew, and discovering and understanding their queer identities.

The pair collaborated with American cartoonist Tillie Walden to bring their story to life.
