Global star Billie Eilish surprise-released the two-song EP Guitar Songs, featuring the tracks “TV” and “The 30th.”
“TV” and “The 30th” Talk About Billie’s Fears
Billie Eilish gave her fans a huge surprise as she released two new songs without any announcement. Nevertheless, there were no complaints about it, as the singer’s new tracks were completely astonishing.
Both of them make an ode to the EP’s title, as they are acoustic songs that showcase Billie’s vocals heavenly. Recently, she opened up about the meaning of them with Apple Music’s Zane Lawe. “I just started looking through my voice memos because it’s something I do all the time, and I have so many and I forget to… I forget I recorded stuff, and then I find it, and it’s very exciting to look through my voice memos and find all this stuff.”
She continued, “I started playing ‘The 30th’, which I love so much, and we were just listening to it and crying together, and it was really sweet. Then I started playing ‘TV’, and we had actually just finished the song a couple of weeks before, the week before. I was sitting there, and I was just talking out loud. I was just thinking out loud, and I was just like, ‘I want these to come out.’”
On “TV,” Billie takes the opportunity to sing about her feelings toward politics and the world. More specifically, she calls out the fact that Roe vs. Wade got overturned recently, and points out how scary the world is at the moment.
She Hopes to Have a New Album Out Next Year
During the interview, she also revealed that she hopes to put a new album out within the next year. “We’re going to hopefully make another album in the next year,” Billie said. “I mean, it’s crazy. I hate to say this because I know it’s a disappointment to people that think, ‘Oh my God, they’re making an album. It’s going to come out soon.’
She added, “‘TV’ and ‘The 30th’ are the only songs that we have. We don’t have any other songs. These songs are really current for me, and they’re songs that I want to have said right now. I was talking to FINNEAS and I was like, “You know what, man? I don’t want to wait until the next album cycle to put these songs on an album and then it’s like, ‘Wow, we have these two guitar songs that are two years old.'”
Last year, Billie released her sophomore studio album, Happier Than Ever.
