▶ Featured Artist: Ashley Cooke

Meet Ashley Cooke, one of Nashville’s rising country stars. Cooke is a Belmont University alum, where she won the acclaimed Country Showcase, following in the footsteps of her idols, like Brad Paisley and Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line. And in late March, the artist signed to the Nashville label Big Loud Records. In August of last year, Cooke released her debut project, Already Drank That Beer Side A. It features 8 tracks written by Cooke and some of Nashville’s biggest songwriters.

“Never Til Now”

One of the standout tracks on her album is “Never Til Now.” The song showcases her deeply reflective, emotional songwriting. On the track, Cooke sings about never wanting to settle down. That is until she meets someone special who changes her mind. Last month the track got a refresh with Cooke tapping Brett Young for a romantic duet version.

“‘Never Til Now’ is a song that has opened so many doors for me already and really changed my life,’ Ashley writes. “To be able to bring a superstar like Brett Young onto this song with me is such an honor”.

“Sunday Morning Kinda Saturday Night”

Another highlight of Already Drank That Beer Side A is “Sunday Morning Kinda Saturday Night.” The track appeared at number one on the iTunes Country chart upon its release. Cooke sings about how partying didn’t cure her post-breakup blues, so she turned to spirituality. With its chill, country groove, this is the kind of song that you want to listen to driving with the windows down at sunset.

“The lyrics basically say, ‘Hey, I’ve had enough of distracting myself by going out, I need a day to go spend some time with myself and God,’” Cooke says of the song.

Right now, Ashley Cooke is on tour supporting Jordan Davis on the Buy Dirt Tour. Beginning May 27, she’ll hit the road with Matt Stell and Brett Young. Also, look out for Ashley Cooke at select festivals throughout the summer. Click here to check out her tour dates and ticket options.
