Pop-punk star YUNGBLUD is back with his latest single, “fleabag.” The track arrives at the heels of his “Spotify Singles” series, released at the end of June.
YUNGBLUD: A True Punk Star
YUNGBLUD is known for his true-to-himself lyricism and being everything but common. Since his music career started in 2018, he has already amassed millions of fans who love his style and music. On Spotify alone, he has over 9 million monthly listeners. His most popular hit “I Think I’m OKAY” featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker has more than 300 million streams on the platform.
“Fleabag” is a pop-punk banger where YUNGBLUD expresses feeling unloved and like he doesn’t belong anywhere. “I’m just a fleabag, nobody loves me. Send me to rehab, somebody touch me. I’m not your monkey, I’m not your puppet. I’m just a fleabag, nobody loves me at all,” he sings in the chorus.
He Wrote “fleabag” During a Dark Time
“I wrote ‘fleabag’ in a really dark time of my life, when a lot of people around me had an expectation about what I should be,” YUNGBLUD said of the track. “To tell you the truth it’s about being f—–g gutted about people judging me and trying to tear me down. I felt so alienated, I felt so alone.”
“When everybody else has an expectation of what you should be or have their own version of your truth it messes with your brain because you start to think ‘maybe they’re right, maybe they do know what’s best for me, maybe I should change who I am,’ but ultimately I believe to my core – its the foundation I built my whole ideology around, that self-expression and the right to be unconditionally yourself is the best thing you can be.”
For the remainder of August and September, YUNGBLUD will be playing a line of festivals across Europe, the UK, and the US. After that, he will kick off his headlining tour LIFE ON MARS on September 27 in Brighton, United Kingdom. A full list of dates and tickets can be found at yungbludofficial.com/tour.
