Tinashe and Buddy Team Up Again for “Pasadena”

Tinashe and Buddy are ‘Feelin’ Free’ in “Pasadena”

Tinashe, R&B pop superstar teams up again with fellow Californian rapper and singer Buddy for their hit single “Pasadena”. Released on June 4th, the upbeat song precedes Tinashe’s upcoming album, 333. The single features melodic harmonies, courtesy of the R&B star, and a playful verse from Buddy, both of which express the need for “feelin’ free” during the summer. “Pasadena” explores all of the feelings associated with the season – excitement, passion, comfort, and many more.

The Duo Works Well Together

Tinashe and Buddy’s recent collaboration comes as no surprise, as the two creatives sang together on Buddy’s “Glitch” last summer. Buddy is signed to RCA, while Tinashe left the label in 2019.  Fortunately, the artists kept in touch and collaborated for their summer tracks. The pair’s unique voices work well together, as “Pasadena” becomes a perfect chill vibe for the summer. The duo’s smooth singing asks you to picture a perfect summer: driving down the highway, “hands in the wind, racin’ out to the coast”, with nothing but freedom in front of you.

Tinashe Teases Upcoming Album, 333

In a press release, Tinashe stated that she “felt a very strong calling to release music that feels like joy, excitement, and freedom,”. “Pasadena” represents all of those things and more. Buddy and Tinashe’s collaboration marks a new beginning for each of them after such a tumultuous year. After feeling the anxieties of quarantine life and relief in the return to normal life, Tinashe says she feels ready to release music that brings a “positive energy into the universe”.

Tinashe wrote recently on Twitter that the single is just a precursor to the “universe” of her upcoming album.  Though she has yet to elaborate, fans speculate that the meanings behind “Pasadena” will be replicated throughout 333. The album will be released sometime during 2021.
