To celebrate Spotify naming her their Global Top Artist of 2023, Taylor Swift released the official version of “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” off of her 2022 album, Midnights.

The song first appeared this past May when Swift released Midnights (The Late Night Edition), seven months after Midnights’ initial release. It was only available as a digital release on her web store, as well as via a physical CD sold at certain Eras Tour stops.

Of course, fans immediately began speculating what—and who—the song was about. Most have concluded that “You’re Losing Me” is about Swift’s breakup earlier this year with her longtime boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.

Regardless, the song is incredibly emotional, as it details the heartbreaking aspects of drifting away from someone you love.

Swift has had quite the year. From her Eras Tour and its concert film to the release of 1989 (TV), the artist has had several insanely impressive successes.

In an Instagram post, Swift spoke about how much being named Spotify’s Global Top Artist of 2023 means to her.

“Um ok this is unreal?? I just wanted to say to anyone who listened to my music this year, anywhere in the world, thank you. Getting named Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023 is truly the best birthday/holiday gift you could’ve given me. We’ve seriously had THE MOST fun this year out there on tour and now this. Are you serious. So I was trying to think of a way to thank you, and a lot of you have been asking me to put “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” on streaming… so here you go! You can finally listen EVERYWHERE now 💋”
