Taylor Swift Releases Red (Taylor’s Version)

Taylor Swift evermore vinylPop icon Taylor Swift has released her version of the album Red. The singer and songwriter is, in fact, re-recording and releasing all of her precedent albums. As many other musicians, Swift’s first music company (Big Machine Records) owned her original records, even when in 2018 the singer moved on to Universal’s Republic Records. This because Big Machine Records didn’t sell her old masters to the new company, but instead to Scooter Braun’s private-holding company Ithaca Holdings. Swift has stated that she has been repeatedly bullied by Mr Braun. Therefore, she publicly opposed the sale of her masters to him. For this reason, she is now in the process of re-recording all of her albums released before 2018. In fact, Red was originally released in 2012.

Alongside with Red, the only album she has already re-recorded is Fearless, originally released in 2008. Moreover, the albums that already belong to the artist are Lover (2019), Folklore (July 2020) and Evermore (December 2020).

The new tracklist, presents 30 songs. It includes, as Swift said in an interview, “so many songs you haven’t heard yet.” An example is an exclusive duet with Ed Sheeran, Everything Has Changed, and a 10-minute version of All Too Well.

Taylor Swift’s first short movie

Not only the singer released a 10-minute version of All Too Well, but also she published a self-developed and directed music video. This is the first time the artist directs a music video. The video portray Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, respectively in the roles of Taylor and Taylor’s now ex boyfriend. Allegedly this boyfriend is Jake Gyllenhaal, but Swift has never confirmed fans’ theories. In fact, in the song All Too Well she ruminates on a red scarf that seems to refer to her relationship with the actor. “And I, left my scarf there at your sister’s house. And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now,” Swift says. The scarf is also available on Taylor Swift’s site.

Finally Taylor Swift appears in the video to interprete herself.

Moreover, a few days later she also released her new version of  I Bet You Think About Me, featuring Chris Stapleton.
