Tame Impala is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their album, ‘Lonerism‘, with a special limited edition anniversary box set, out May 26th.

Tame Impala Celebrates Another 10 Year Milestone

The psychedelic rock act is no stranger to releasing limited edition merch to fans. After all, Tame Impala has been around since 2007, which means plenty of the act’s music is approaching milestones of their own. For example, debut album, ‘InnerSpeaker‘, and the most recent album, ‘The Slow Rush‘, also received box sets of their own. And the deluxe merch doesn’t stop there. Back in 2022, Tame Impala also launched a limited edition shoe line. It seems the artist is no stranger to releasing exclusive products for Tame Impala’s top fans.

This time around, the box-set for ‘Lonerism’ will include “a-side of album demos, 2 previously unreleased demos, [and a] deluxe 24-page booklet.” In anticipation of demands, there was a limit of four box-sets per person. And sadly, we have to be the bearers of bad news: the box-set is already sold out.

Honoring A Decade of “Lonerism”

Tame Impala is the impressive work of Kevin Parker, who writes, records, produces, and performs all of the act’s music. Parker has been creating psychedelic and synthy pop songs independently ever since the days of Myspace, when he would post his tracks onto the social media platform. Since, he has signed with Interscope Records and amassed over 22 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His discography includes 5 albums, with the addition of a 10-year anniversary album for ‘InnerSpeaker’. Maybe, if we’re lucky, he will continue the trend and release another anniversary album for ‘Lonerism.’

‘Lonerism’ is Tame Impala’s sophomore album, which released in October of 2012. With musical influences like The Beatles and Pink Floyd, ‘Lonerism’ is a lo-fi, synth-pop extension of Tame Impala’s debut album, with an extra touch of psychedelic rock. Speaking of ‘Lonerism,’ Parker says, “This time, I want the songs to be like waves that hit you rather than you swimming in an ocean of melody.” And with that, he got it right on the head. Lonerism’s track-list composition is a dreamy combo of sugary pop, mixed with synths and drums that hit you unexpectedly. When discussing the theme of ‘Lonerism,’ Parker says, “It’s about the persona of someone who is really isolated – but not necessarily deliberately. Most of the songs are really about other people, being amongst other people.”

Tame Impala’s ‘Lonerism’ went on to win Best Rock Album and Album of the Year at the 2013 ARIA Awards. Additionally, it is certified platinum in Australia, and was even been nominated for an award at the 56th Grammy’s.

Happy anniversary to ‘Lonerism,’ and here’s to many more years with Tame Impala!
