Tame Impala Launches Limited Edition Shoe Collection

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has teamed up with local Indonesian company Sepatu Compass to launch the limited-edition shoe collection, Artificial Vibration.

Tame Impala’s Music-Inspired Shoe Designs

The new limited-edition shoe collection comes with three different designs of sneakers inspired by three different songs of Tame Impala. The shoes undeniably bring the music into visuals with the beautiful designs made.

The first is a retrograde low shoe with a waveform pattern to represent “The Less I Know The Better,” while the other two designs are retrograde hi decons. One of them is a tie-dye pattern for “Yes I’m Changing,” and the third is a spectrogram print for “Lost In Yesterday.” All three shoe types feature a tongue that can hold wireless headphones.

The shoe collection, for now, is only available for purchase in Indonesia, where the local shoe company is based. Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker wrote on Instagram, “Hey Indonesia, I’m honored to announce this very special collab with Sepatu Compass; where they transformed my music into graphics! Super cool idea. Very limited run. Hope you manage to grab some.”

Creative director of Sepatu Compassn Aji Handoko Purbo, shared in a statement; “The initial idea was so simple: How can we make a pattern that represents the identity of Tame Impala from a series of numbers? An idea arose to extract the songs from Tame Impala into data sets that would then be processed into an image. The pure energy of Kevin Parker when recording his songs, the vibrations of Kevin Parker that we can feel from every note that he composes [inspired this collection].”

They Kick off Their Tour in March

Tame Impala released their latest album, The Slow Rush, back in 2020 after much anticipation from fans. Due to the pandemic, they haven’t been able to tour behind the album.  Recently they finally announced some American tour dates for this year. Their first appearance is on February 27 in Tempe, AZ. That’s when they will hit the road for a run of headline arena dates that conclude with another festival appearance at the Buku Music + Art Project in New Orleans, LA on March 25. Additionally, they will also take over Europe starting on June 2 in Barcelona, Spain. Tickets to all dates are on sale now and you can find them here.
