Surf Mesa & Madison Beer Get “Carried Away” in Music Video

Surf Mesa and Madison Beer might be the duo we never expected to see, but we’re so glad it happened. The pair got together to make a music video for their dance-pop ballad “Carried Away.” In the video, they show us what young love is really like.

Madison & Surf Made the Perfect Music Video for “Carried Away”

Although “Carried Away” was released on February 12, the music video really gives the song what it needed. Surf Mesa spoke out in a statement what the song is about. “It’s about the butterflies in your stomach feeling you get when you meet someone new and fall in love for the very first time.”

“Working with Madison was a dream,” he added. “I hope this song spreads love during this time when we need it more than ever.”

According to director Loris Russier, the music video is inspired by what it’s like experiencing first love while in lockdown. It was shot in a suburban Los Angeles home and features the pair spending time in different areas of the cozy space. They dance under a moonlit sky, lounge around together at home, and enjoy the pleasure of each other’s company.

“Carried Away” takes a different turn from Madison’s usual music, which is typically a little darker. This song is filled with joy, showing what it really means to be young and in love for the very first time.

Madison also talked about the experience of creating “Carried Away.” “When writing songs about love, I’m often drawn to the ups and downs and heartache that can result from a relationship gone bad. It was refreshing to explore the other side of love for ‘Carried Away,’ the excited nerves you get from meeting someone and falling in love for the first time. I’m so grateful to Surf who made the whole process so fun.”
