Sam Fischer Faces Reality on “You Don’t Call Me Anymore”

Australian pop-rock musician Sam Fischer released his new single “You Don’t Call Me Anymore,” following on November’s “Carry It Well.”

A Song About Losing Someone Unexpectedly

Sam Fischer is back with a new song! Last year, the singer-songwriter only shared two solo singles – “All My Loving” and “Carry It Well.” But, it seems like he wanted to start this year off strong, by already releasing new music.

The new single, “You Don’t Call Me Anymore,” is a burning, realistic ballad where Sam realizes the person he fell in love with was starting to pull away from their relationship. Throughout the entire song, he narrates how he came to notice that this person was starting to change, and it all started one night in the back of a taxi.

“I can still hear your laugh in the back of the cab. We were drunk, it’s been ages. Pick a fight with the driver, you’re kind of a d*ck like that. Another one for the books and the punches were good. We were addin’ the pages. Drove away to a time and a place that I can’t get back…And I didn’t know. I was watchin’ you go,” he sings.

“‘You Don’t Call Me Anymore’ is a song for anyone who’s lost someone they had no idea they were losing,” Sam explained. “Whether it’s falling out of love, fading out of friendship or grieving the passing of a loved one. It’s the realization that they’re not there anymore and there’s no rhyme or reason to it, nothing happened, they’re just not around. It hurts, it sucks but it’s human and everyone will feel it at some point in their lives, so when they do, at least they’ll have this song to find some comfort in.”
