Sadie Jean, WYD Now?

Music Discovery Sadie Jean is on the road with her singer-songwriter debut EP 'Simple Like 17' now.

California native Sadie Jean first made the rounds of TikTok in 2021 thanks to her viral hit, “WYD Now?” Three years later, she is embarking on her first headlining tour for her debut EP, Simple Like 17.

Part of the seven-track project’s highlight is “WYD Now?”, even after promoting an “open verse challenge” which excluded the 191k TikTok videos already using the track. However, deeper cuts like “Just Because” and “October 25th” read like the ripped-out diary entries lying across her then-teenage room floor. Ones that (now) feel like a warm glow on the record, further underlining Jean’s education at the prestigious New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.

Her debut acclaim is a treasure trove of new generation insecurities and Gen Z’s loveless angst. Shining proudly through the harpy “WYD Now?”, new RIAA Gold certification and Rod Wave feature, her relatable lyrics also crown her booming 4.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify

The Simple Like 17 tour crafts an intimate show experience across 17 cities in North America, including Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago and Philadelphia. Though known for her internet-ridden heartache, “Locksmith” better showcases her angelic, heaven-sent vocals, thus making the tour’s smaller venues a safe haven for tears. And though she played bigger stages while guest-performing for multi-platinum artist Rod Wave’s Nostalgia sold-out arena tour, there’s nothing like supporting artist friends Johnny Orlando’s and Cian Ducrot’s live shows.

Though choir crowded her formative years, Jean did take music seriously until her brother heard her cover Radiohead’s “Creep.” From there, she started posting her songs to SoundCloud. Now, Jean stars as the betrayed lover in director Jaqueline Dufwa’s orange-turned-blue music video for “WYD Now?” Watch “WYD Now?” by Sadie Jean below.
