Sabrina Carpenter and GloRilla Electrify Early Summer Charts On Music Daily’s Tracks

Sabrina Carpenter with "Manchild" and GloRilla with "Typa" surface are some of the names that've defined early summer airwaves.

With the release calendar looking stacked to end the summer, we’re especially keyed in on who will win the charts in the earliest days of the season. An eclectic mix of established stars is winning out in our estimation, as Sabrina Carpenter, GloRilla, and Lil Wayne have some of the most intriguing developments on this week’s Music Daily Trending Tracks ranking.

Sabrina Carpenter Ignites Social Media With “Manchild”

Ms. Sabrina Carpenter remains a hot topic in so many ways, but we’ll eschew some of the more noxious social media discourse and focus on the numbers. We’ll have to wait until the end of August to see precisely how Man’s Best Friend influences this year’s charts, but that gives plenty of runway for the “Espresso” singer to execute a full roll-out effort. If it’s anything like what we’ve seen of “Manchild” so far, we’ll have plenty of indication of what we expect to be a monumental LP far ahead of time. In just under two weeks in the public’s hands, “Manchild” rockets up to a #18 spot in our rankings, depicting an unreal streaming performance (#1 and #8 across Spotify and Apple Music, respectively, with another pole position grab on TikTok).

On paper, “Typa” from GloRilla was a shoo-in for strong performance indicators already. Built of equal parts trademark Glo grit and more accessible romanticism, the Memphis MC put numbers on the board again, continuing a streak of hit-making that earnestly started with her debut album in 2024. However, we must note the peripherals that helped increase this song’s profile, first with TheShadeRoom fodder of including Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette in the single art and cover. Flipping Keyshia Cole’s “Love” helped bring another significant character into the mix, providing both an already-successful foundation for the song and an opportunity for a splashy live moment, as Love and GloRilla took the stage at the BET Awards for one of the night’s best-received performances.

Aftershocks From Lil Wayne And His Carter 6

Finally, Lil Wayne and his Carter 6 were very much in the consciousness over the past few weeks, sadly, in the negative despite the high expectations that many approached the latest chapter in his storied series with. Despite the frothed-up first reads from his wider fanbase, our charts reflect some diamonds in the rough, headlined by his BigXthaPlug collaboration “Hip-Hop.” Contrasting that “new formula” Wayne cut, wherein the tenured veteran grabs a younger name and their contributions are greater than the sum of their parts, the other track percolating in our rankings is “Welcome To Tha Carter,” sliding in just below at #109. A straightforward, soul-sampling cut focused on raw bars, it reminds of the promise many rightfully approached his latest LP with and the still-present potentiality for a return to form in the Louisiana legend’s next steps.
