Rex Orange County Hopes He’s Not a “THREAT”

Vulnerability is the name of the game when it comes to Rex Orange County and his latest song “THREAT.” Now, when I say that I’ve felt the same way as this song, I ain’t lying. So let’s take a look.

Hope He’s Not A Threat:

This is a very specific feeling and state of mind. While yes, women can feel this as well, I’d say it’s rare for a man to admit this. Having issues with one’s worth in a relationship due to the comparison to others is a recipe for overthinking. As it turns out, that’s something explicitly stated here too! It’s honestly a brave approach to songwriting, especially with all the discourse online over “what makes a man” nowadays. I, for one, completely empathize with Rex Orange County and his negative thought processes. I have to commend him for that.

Aside from this, the music is quite nice and relaxed. Same thing can be said about the vocal delivery. Though, the autotune approach is a bit much for my taste, especially considering how good Rex’s vocals are without it. With that said, the lyrical approach is the thing that sticks out to me. That alone makes this song special and worth listening to.

Rex Orange County is a phenomenal artist and this is just another banger for him. For more on your favorites and unknown check out our Word and Drops sections.
