Going back to 2022: Remi Wolf Covers “Winter Wonderland” & “Last Christmas”

Remi Wolf spreads the holiday magic with her own covers of the Christmas classics “Winter Wonderland” and “Last Christmas.” The California singer-songwriter released her official new single “Michael” in May 2022, and a live compilation project, Live at Electric Lady, later that August. “Live at Electric Lady” is a Spotify-exclusive series where musicians partner with Spotify and Electric Lady Studios to give their fans live performances and covers. Remi Wolf re-records five of her original songs in addition to a cover of Frank Ocean’s “Pink + White.” Seemingly, she enjoys putting her own twist on records as she brings her rasp and soulful voice to holiday classics “Winter Wonderland” and “Last Christmas.”

Remi Wolf Reinvents “Winter Wonderland”

Firstly, she covers the timeless Richard Bernhard Smith Christmas song, “Winter Wonderland.” The song has been covered by Bryson Tiller, Michael Buble, beabadoobee, Pentatonix, Tori Kelly and many more. With minor melody and production changes and her bluesy tone, Remi Wolf does an exceptional rendition of the track. The lyrics are the soundtrack to many people’s holiday season. “In the meadow, we can build a snowman / And pretend that he’s a circus clown / We’ll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman / Until the other kiddies knock him down,” Wolf sings.

Her Unique Take On “Last Christmas”

Secondly, “Last Christmas” is a notorious holiday tune that countless artists revive every year. Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Tinashe, Carly Rae Jepsen and Kelly Clarkson, to name a few. Remi Wolf plays around with the production and instrumentation on the George Michael track. The cover still sounds pop, but what makes it special is Wolf’s powerhouse and raspy vocals. The bridge is where we hear the vocal range of the “Liz” singer.

If you have only heard Wolf’s bedroom pop hits then you wouldn’t know that she dabbles in disco and funk as well. Her versatility truly makes her a dynamic force in the music industry. Watch for updates on the U.S. tour for Remi this coming spring in 2025.
