JumpOutTheHouse! Playboi Carti is on his way to having another certified platinum album with Whole Lotta Red.
Whole Lotta Red
In the words of the RIAA, or Recording Industry Association of America, for an album to be certified platinum, it must sell over one million units. According to RapTV, Playboi Carti’s second studio album, Whole Lotta Red, has met the criteria.
The rockstar came out with Whole Lotta Red on Christmas day of 2020, after years of teasing the project. In August of 2018, following the release of his debut studio album, Die Lit, a video surfaced of Playboi Carti discussing his next album. He told his fans the title would be Whole Lotta Red. During his “Neon Tour” in 2018, he performed snippets of songs from the album live.
For almost two years, Playboi Carti gave updates and release dates that didn’t follow through. In a 2019 interview with The FADER, he updated his anxiously awaiting fans, explaining how he could’ve finished the album at that time if he wanted to. But, he was working with Metro Boomin on a project at the time. He explained,“That’s why my head’s fucked up. This shit could go on my album, but if it goes on the album, then we gotta change the whole thing.”
The Release Day
When the album finally came out, fans were ecstatic. The album includes songs “ILoveUIHateU”, “Stop Breathing”, “Vamp Anthem”, and more out-of-the-box titles. When it was first released, there were a lot of mixed reactions.

Many people didn’t understand the album, others were upset with the “satanic” feel of it, and many were disappointed because it was very different from what he’s done before. But after some time, people began to warm up to it.

Platinum Playboi Carti
The hate doesn’t matter to Playboi Carti; he uses his artistic abilities in music and his own influence to make his albums. He stays true to himself in his music, and does what he wants with no boundaries. Congrats to Carti on going Platinum!
