Taylor Swift Talks New Album Midnights

Fresh off the release of her record breaking album Midnights, Taylor Swift joins Jimmy Fallon for a sit down interview. Fallon and Swift talk about her new album breaking the record for the most streams in a single day on Spotify. Midnights became the top selling album of the year in just one day! Also, the top ten songs from Apple music and Spotify are all songs Swift’s new album. Fallon tells the audience that the new album is projected to sell over one million copies in its first week. “I’m feeling very overwhelmed by the fans’ love for the record. I’m also feeling like very soft and fragile,” Taylor Swift says. 

In addition, the singer discusses her love and passion for writing, and how the last six or seven years she has not stopped creating. Taylor Swift discloses that she had more fun making Midnights than any other album. Which, is in fact her first “directly autobiographical album in a while.”

Subsequently, she talks about the creative process behind her music videos for “Anti-Hero” and “Bejeweled.” Mike Birbiglia makes a cameo in her “Anti-Hero” video, while the Cinderella-inspired “Bejeweled” video features appearances from the HAIM sisters, Laura Dern, Dita Von Teese and more.

Lastly, Jimmy Fallon suggests she goes on tour, and Taylor Swift agrees. The audience screams as she teases a potential tour for the album.

Then, Meghan Trainor performs new cut “Made You Look” from her latest album Takin’ It Back, released on October 21st. The set is entirely pink-themed. The dancers dress in pink blazers, while Meghan sports a velvet pink leotard as pink fog and lights surround them. 

For her interview, the “All About That Bass” singer talks the inspiration behind the album title. Many people love her “throwback” type sound reminiscent of the late 90’s. Hence, the album title Takin’ It Back.

Also, Jimmy Fallon shows a clip of Meghan in the studio with her one-year-old son and she talks how becoming a mom has improved her music. “Everything means so much more and you can hear that in my lyrics. It’s not sad it’s happy.”

 

Coming Up On Fallon’s week of “Fall-Star Favorites”

Tonight, award-winning actress Sigourney Weaver will join the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as well as a performance by Zedd and Maren Morris. Tomorrow, grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Selena Gomez and Spy actress Rose Byrne.Following, “Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown will arrive on Thursday, October 27th.
