Olivia Rodrigo’s New Single Will (Literally) Be “good 4 u”

Even though “good 4 u” is only set to be Olivia Rodrigo’s third official single, the world is waiting for it with bated breath. Olivia Rodrigo’s rise to stardom happened at lightning speed. Although, it makes sense with the astronomical level of talent she has.

The Beginnings Of The Career Of A Lifetime

On Friday, May 14, Olivia Rodrigo is dropping her third single, “good 4 u.” While we already know that this song it’s going to be a hit, we’re not sure what it’s going to sound like. Her debut single, “drivers license,” was an immediate dream pop success. By combining alternative pop stylings with singer-songwriter lyricism, she had a hit on her hands. The world clamored for as much insight into the breakout track that they could get. Rumors, assumptions, videos, and commentary are still surfacing about the record-breaking, über-successful song.

Without giving too much away, Olivia Rodrigo followed that up with “deja vu.” The sophomore single had a bit more of a mainstream pop vibe found deep within it’s wistful, soulful storytelling. Although, much like her first hit, “deja vu” had a similar air of romanticism, heartbreak, and youthful pondering. Both singles feels like they could have been written by the likes of Taylor Swift and produced by the likes of Finneas. Relatable, heart-wrenching songwriting mixed in with intricate, cool-toned production made for two hits already. Also, if it works for Swift and Finneas’ global sensation of a sister, Billie Eilish, it makes sense that it works for Olivia Rodrigo.

Will “good 4 u” Be Third Time’s The Charm?

Now, with this third single on its way, we’re expecting something a little different. Whether it’s a full-fledged ballad –  instead of just a sad love song – or a truly upbeat pop hit, fans are looking for something new.

Sure, fans and music lovers alike are what made Olivia Rodrigo the pop star she is today. However, the world can’t help but want a glimpse of all the tricks up her sleeve. With as much wisdom and talent that she’s already shown in just two songs, everyone knows that there’s more to give. “Good 4 u” might be just that. Friday, May 14 will be a telling day in the pop music world, but we can’t wait.

Fans everywhere are also on the edge of their seats because of Olivia Rodrigo’s impending SNL debut. The rising star is taking the famed stage just 24 hours after the release of “good 4 u.” She also teased on Instagram that this will be one of the songs she will performing on the show. It’s going to be interesting to see a brand new song brought to life during such a prestigious event.

Nevertheless, we have faith that her spot as musical guest on the show will bring the house down. Just this week she made her debut overseas while performing on The BRIT Awards. She swooned and crooned on a stripped-down, live take of “drivers license” in front of the adoring crowd.

Ending her week of mesermziing, musical firsts on Saturday Night Live will be the cherry on top. It’s also important to mention that after this third, highly-anticipated single release comes an entire album. Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour, is dropping just a week after “good 4 u” and SNL. May 21 might be just as big of a day in pop music as May 14. Again, it’s all thanks to the power of the brand new star that is Olivia Rodrigo.
