With new artists comes new music, some good, some bad. There’s a lot of new people that are looking for moderate success within the mainstream and more often than not that’s exactly what happens. However, there are artists that make it to such incredible heights from the start that it’s honestly just amazing. One of these artists is the iconic Lady Gaga. Her 2008 debut album ‘The Fame,” stayed in the Billboard Top 10 for 51 consecutive weeks. As a point of reference, there’s 52 weeks in an entire year. No one has been able to beat this record debut… until July 2nd.
Olivia Rodrigo and “SOUR”
Olivia Rodrigo, an actress and singer turned into a viral hit after TikTok’s use of her smash hit “driver’s license.” Later releasing her debut album ‘SOUR’ to incredible success. Everyone was singing one track or the other for weeks. Then after all the buzz, she was nominated for a plethora of Grammys, three of which she won. Hell, she beat out Billie Eilish, yes THE Billie Eilish in best solo pop performance and best pop album! This girl is a force to be reckoned with. And as of July 2nd her record outlasted Lady Gaga’s in the Billboard Top 10!
