Morgan Wallen: Live From The Ryman Concert Review

Morgan Wallen: Live From The Ryman

Morgan Wallen has held his first concert since March 2020. He sang the tracklist of his new album, Dangerous: The Double Album.

January 12th’s show was a combination of an in-person and online-livestream show. For attendees at the Ryman, it was a socially-distanced sit-down, with multiple seats between small groups wearing required face masks. For those watching online, it was a free streaming concert on Youtube and Facebook.

The concert comes shortly after the debut of his new album, Dangerous: The Double Album. The release absolutely destroyed the charts and is breaking records left and right for Apple Music and Spotify, the two biggest streaming platforms. Going into this concert, Wallen was clearly riding high on the good news.

Stage Presence

Morgan Wallen’s stage presence was confident and light-hearted, a much-needed brief reprieve from the seriousness of current events. He kept things interesting with a blend of boot-stompers and ballads, maintaining a good mood equilibrium throughout the night.

His focus was on the music, not wanting to waste a single moment after a year of no concerts. Still, Wallen sprinkled in some dialogue in between, making sure to thank everyone involved in the production and sending out his hope to be doing this again soon under better circumstances.

Towards the end of the show, fellow country singer and mullet-wearer Ben Burgess strode onto the stage for a duet of ‘Outlaw’. Burgess then tapped out so Wallen could sing the heartbreaker ‘Somebody’s Problem’, 1 of 3 singles that hit the Rolling Stone Top 100 back in November. It’s safe to say the concert was jam-packed with certified hits.

Wallen capped the concert off with ‘More than My Hometown’, the first number 1 single from the double album. He prefaced the final song with a heartfelt thank you to all his fans and parted with a smile. But just like any other concert, there was a prolonged encore cheer, and he came back on stage singing his cover of Jason Isbell’s ‘Cover Me Up’. Then Wallen said goodbye for real, leaving his fans eager for the next Morgan Wallen concert in their future.

The livestream is still up to rewatch on his Youtube channel. You can buy Dangerous: The Double Album on Morgan Wallen’s website, buy the Target exclusive vinyl here, or stream it on your favorite music platform.
