Morgan Wallen and Lil Durk Collab on “Broadway Girls”

Morgan Wallen and Lil Durk have teamed up to make “Broadway Girls,” a must-listen combination of country and rap. Released on December 17th as a remix to Wallen’s previous single, the track made waves on social media. The pair, though quite different stylistically, fit perfectly together. “Broadway Girls” is the ultimate blend of their respective genres.

Shutting Down Nashville

The music video is just as enjoyable as the song itself. Lil Durk and Morgan Wallen shut down Nashville’s Lower Broadway and hang out at Jason Aldean’s bar. The unlikely duo seem to have the time of their lives as they rap and sing in front of a mechanical bull… and block traffic.

Not Lil Durk’s First Collaboration

“Broadway Girls” isn’t the first collaboration for Lil Durk. He recently dropped a joint album with Lil Baby, Voice of the Heroes, which peaked at #1 on the Billboard charts. It seems the Chicago rapper’s fan base is ever-expanding, and for good reason. Lil Durk’s verse on “Broadway Girls” is first-class. He raps, “They on me, they tryna finesse me / They see me with Morgan and know that I rap / My horse is Porsches, turnin’ me on / I jump on a horse, she get on the back”.

Morgan Wallen Tries Other Genres

Morgan Wallen has also collaborated with other artists, such as Chris Stapleton and Diplo. He’s ventured into country-pop with Diplo’s “Heartless,” and now moving into the country-rap genre with “Broadway Girls.” Wallen aligns his country voice perfectly with Durk’s energetic raps.

“Broadway Girls” Sets a Precedent

This collaboration between an unlikely duo is a precedent for music to come. Combining country and rap is largely a taboo in the music industry, but somehow “Broadway Girls” just fits. Morgan Wallen and Lil Durk are both great artists in their own right, and this track demonstrates how well they compliment each other. Here at Music Daily, we’re excited to see what’s next for the country and rap greats.
