On July 28, MAX and Olivia O’Brien took the stage at Chicago’s Park West alongside Sebastian Paul. The concert kicked off a series of Lollapalooza after-shows for a week full of music.
Sebastian Paul Warmed up the Venue
Doors opened at Park West at 6 pm. Fans looked excited to finally be back at a live show, and new friends were being made. Thirty minutes later, Sebastian Paul took the stage, warming up the venue with a set full of dance music.
Wearing a perfect-fit nude color long-sleeve and black leather pants, Sebastian performed his biggest hits. Making the audience dance along, he made sure to leave it all on the stage. After a 30-minute performance, he said goodbye and introduced the next act for the evening: MAX.
MAX Got Everyone Dancing
After a 30-minute intermission, MAX took over the Park West stage. Opening up with the lead single off his latest album, “Colour Vision,” he got the audience excited to see what was coming next.
MAX is known for dancing very enthusiastically on stage and doing crazy things such as cartwheels and jazz jumps. This performance wasn’t any different. When he performed his biggest hits such as “Love Me Less,” “10 Victoria’s Secret Models,” “Savage,” “Holla,” “One More Weekend” and “Satisfied,” he interacted with the audience and even shook some fans’ hands.
Changing up the tempo a little bit, MAX performed his latest ballad “Butterflies.” Also, his biggest hit “Lights Down Low” made the audience sing along while holding their phone’s flashlights up to illuminate the venue.
After performing one last song, he said goodbye to the audience with “Checklist,” one of his latest singles included in the Colour Vision album. Before walking off stage, he made sure to get everyone excited to see the next artist: Olivia O’Brien.
Olivia O’Brien Sang Fan-Favorite Hits
After 35 minutes, Olivia finally took the Park West stage at 9 pm sharp. Opening up with her 2017 banger “Tequilawine,” she got the entire venue dancing and singing along. She sang her most popular and fan-loved songs such as “hate u love u,” “RIP,” “Empty,” “I Don’t Exist,” “We Lied To Each Other” and even her famous 2015 cover of Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated,” which she had not performed in years.
Olivia also sang some of her latest tracks included in her June EP Episodes: Season 1. Among them, was the lead single “Sociopath” and the rock-pop banger “No More Friends” which got the crowd singing at the top of their lungs.
After finishing up her set with her 2020 hit “Josslyn,” Olivia said goodbye to fans at 10 pm and shared how happy she was to be able to perform live again.
Overall, it was an amazing experience. The versatility that each of the performers showed helped to keep fans engaged on the 3 and half-hour show.
