Madison Cunningham x Spotify Singles: Listen to Her Reinterpretation of ‘Army Of Me’ by Björk

Madison Cunningham is the new cover of Spotify Singles. The music streaming platform has indeed chosen the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter-guitarist for their famous format. And Madison definitely did not disappoint expectations.

The two-time Grammy nominated artist has decided to perform “Life According To Raechel” and “Army Of Me,” Bjork’s lucky success from 1995. As she admitted, Bjork is one of her favorite artists of the 21st century. Madison’s reinterpretation is impressive, as she has been able to transform a giant in the history of music into a personal ballad full of intimacy. Her version still has that classic anguish that the original had, but it seems made to be sung by Madison Cunningham. Let’s be honest, covering old successes is never easy, and the risk of being perceived as a copy is really high. But here comes the artist. Her version respects the original but goes in a different direction.

The soothing vocals, together with the bass and groove, makes the newArmy Of Me” something unique. You need to like the vibes in order to appreciate what she’s doing. But there’s no doubt that Madison Cunningham has the talent to revisit the classics and also compose her own hits. She’s always been too underrated. And that’s a shame.
