Kings of Leon Release ‘Echoing’ Off Forthcoming Album

Last month, Kings of Leon announced they’d be releasing their first album since 2016 When You See Yourself. Some of the album’s singles the group have shared are ‘The Bandit’ and ‘100,000 People’. Last week Kings of Leon released ‘Echoing’, the latest single off the album.

Kings of Leon’s First Album in Five Years

“It feels wonderful. It’s been a long wait sitting on this music. It’s always difficult knowing that you have something that you’re really excited for everyone to get to hear. Then being told you have to sit on it for a minute was tough, but it also gave us a chance to live with it for a little while. And it’s still just as fresh today as it was on the first listen”. Kings of Leon’s Nathan Followill told Zane Lowe in an interview on Apple Radio.

Last month, Kings of Leon’s frontman, Caleb Followill, said in an interview that this album could be their most “personal” yet, adding that “a vein of my personal life flows through these songs”. He also praised the contribution of guitarist and cousin Mathews Followill to the songs. Caleb said that Mathew, “really nerded out and found some cool vintage equipment” to use on the band’s new material.

He added, “He was into organs and synthesizers as I was pulling teeth trying to get him to play more guitar! But when you hear that old equipment, it feels timeless and beautiful”.

New Music for the Fans

Kings of Leon’s drummer, Nathan Followill, (brother of Caleb) said that it was important to produce new music for the fans. Nathan also gave fans hope that they might be able to see the band touring this Summer. “The decision to put it out now was our answer to the fact we aren’t able to tour right now. Hopefully, by summer we can make the shows we are booked to play.”

He also added that a new album is the best way that Kings of Leon could truly thank the fans for their patience in these difficult pandemic times. “People can’t see live shows right now, so the next best thing is new music for them to listen to. Putting it out was our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our fans for their patience”.

The band just shared a black & white music video for ‘Echoing’, which is available to watch on YouTube.
