Actor, singer, and songwriter Joshua Bassett released his sophomore EP Sad Songs In A Hotel Room.
Joshua Expresses Himself Through Music
Joshua Bassett is back with a new project! Earlier in August, he announced that he had a new EP on the way and released the lead single “Smoke Slow.” And only one month later, he unveiled the entire project!
But we haven’t been totally deprived of Joshua’s music in the past year. To end 2021, he released a bundle of three songs “Crisis/Secret/Set Me Free,” which were also his addressing a situation that was going on at that moment. Then, in February, he released “Doppelganger,” a new single which is not part of the EP. And now, we have a full 6-song EP to enjoy.
Alongside “Smoke Slow,” Sad Songs In A Hotel Room features all solo tracks. These are the title track, “LA,” “Used To It,” “Lifeline” and “All In Due Time.” All of them feature Joshua’s delicate vocals along with the sweet sounds of his guitar.
The Meaning of the New EP
“Sad Songs In A Hotel Room comes from a transient period of my life, when I was constantly moving from hotel to Airbnb to a friend’s place, while also juggling some intense personal growth and change,” Joshua says. “Each song on this EP tells a different part of the story from that time. In some ways, these songs feel like a bridge from one chapter of my life to the next, and I felt an urgency to put them out as I finish my debut album.”
He’s Headlining Two Sold-Out Shows in LA
The new EP arrives a year after Joshua’s self-titled debut EP. He also just performed two sold-out shows at New York’s Bowery Ballroom this September and is set to perform two more sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ The Troubadour this month. For more information, visit joshuatbassett.com/tour
