Jaden Smith’s dreamy new single “Bye” dropped last Tuesday. This is the first single to be released from his upcoming album CTV3 Day Trippers Edition.
Smith’s “Bye,” single that Lido produced, is a smooth psychedelic dream of a track where Smith sings about lost love. Smith explores the desperation of trying to fight for a love unrequited. “I know you’re sick of falling in love, but girl that need to be us out on the beach having fun,” Smith sings. “Missed calls on your phone, you’ll probably never see it, heard you got a new man, wouldn’t want to be him.” The track was released alongside a video with kaleidoscopic visuals of Jaden wandering the Los Angeles desert.
“I was sad when I made the song, but I’m happy it’s out,” Smith states. “Welcome to CTV3, welcome to trippy summer. It was the time of our lives.”
What To Expect from Jaden Smith’s Upcoming Album
In an interview with Zane Lowe (Apple music radio host) Smith describes his previous album, CTV3: Cool Tapes Vol. 3, as the prequel to the era of his character, SYRE.
“…This is also a prequel before SYRE…” Smith said. “So, it’s kind of taking place when I’m like 15 going all the way up to like 17 and like how did SYRE get trapped in the sunset?”
This next album appears to be diving into the many discoveries and adventures of the summer of CTV3. The album is yet to have a release date, but is said to feature Justin Bieber, Joey Badass, Babe Rainbow, and Teo.
