Willow Smith Transcends Genres With Pop Punk Single

Last Wednesday, the alluring and alternative indie icon Willow Smith, aka WILLOW, released a pop punk single. The track highlights her diverse musical talent. Titled “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l,” the song is the real deal when it comes to punk.

Finding Her Place In Punk

With help from pop punk legend and Blink -182 drummer, Travis Barker, Willow Smith transformed her sound to fit this energetic banger. From the creative vocal runs to the classic punk melodies, Willow does a great job switching out of her normal indie vibe.

With some awesome cover art for the song, it seems that fans will being experiencing more of these punk elements. Will Willow keep this sound for future singles? Who knows? Her next, full-length studio project may be dedicated to this sound as a whole. We sure hope so.

Smith also has the green light of Barker, a punk legend, and may be apart of his plan to pass the torch to Gen Z.

Travis Barker has been extremely active lately when it comes to collaborating with a lot of young, up-and-coming artists. Musicians like KennyHoopla and Yungblud have gotten their opportunity from Barker, and now, so has Willow.

It’s Been a Minute Since Willow Smith Dropped a Single

Willow Smith is returning to the music scene after dropping her most recent EP back in November 2020. At the time, she had hooked up with Jahnavi Harrison to create the six song project, Rise.

This new single is Willow’s first real solo project and single that she has dropped in two years. After playing around with different influences and taking a little bit from each, Willow has settled on punk…. For now, at least. However , you have to always expect the unexpected from this young, talented, pop punk star.

Overall, Willow sets the perfect vibe for a new era of music. Everything in this song, “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l,” and its the visual comment, scream nineties goth punk. Although, it is an aesthetic that is surprising to hear from the artist, we are nonetheless still here for every bit of it.
