It’s ‘Not My Fault’ That Megan Thee Stallion & Reneé Rap Released A Single

The bouncy 'Mean Girls' single features an audio sample from the original film.

Everyone says, “Beware of ‘The Plastics.'” Really, they mean watch out for Megan Thee Stallion & Reneé Rapp’s icy-hot collaboration “Not My Fault.” It’s so fetch.

Earlier in the week, the “Snow Angel” singer teased the single’s release in true Mean Girls fashion. She provided cheeky commentary on their sexy pink artwork. “Meg told me to put my a– out so I put my a– out,” Rapp wrote on X.

The sparkly dance track pays homage to the original film in the best way. An audio sample introduces the single with Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) and best friend Janis’ (Lizzy Caplan) infamous car-fight line: “It’s not my fault that you’re, like, in love with me or something.” It sets the stage, complete with Rapp and Megan on their bubblicious pink thrones, slick verses, and cold, shiny hard plastic.

Rapp stars in the Mean Girls reboot as the queen bee of North Shore High School, Regina George, reprising her role from the Broadway musical. The film arrives in theaters on Jan. 12, 2024. The full 13-track album (via Paramount Pictures and Interscope Records) will release the same day the movie musical itself hits theatres. The title was originally headed for Paramount+, but shifted to a full theatrical release last minute.

In other Rapp news, the actress-singer released a remix for her song, “tummy hurts,” with R&B rising star Coco Jones.
