Gucci Mane Enlists JT For ‘Chanel Bag’ As New LP Looms

Gucci Mane adds another trap heavyweight to his Rolodex with the JT-assisted "Chanel Bag."

After a splashy moment with “Take Dat,” an anthemic single simply based around the phrase “No Diddy” (take a listen here, and yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like), Gucci Mane is back. Not just with more music, which he certainly is, but back on the hyper-speed release cycle longtime fans know him for. As Greatest of All Trappers looms, here’s everything you need to know about “Chanel Bag,” the latest Gucci Mane single featuring JT.

Gucci Mane & JT Are Perfect Foils On “Chanel Bag”

More than two dozen full-length projects in, Gucci Mane fans should essentially know what to expect at this point, and “Chanel Bag” won’t shock nor surprise any who tunes in. The sultry, high price tag conceit central to this song is one he’s explored plenty before, but if you weren’t on board with that premise, clever one-liners like, “Act like it’s a honeymoon / We ain’t even jump the broom,” might keep you coming back nonetheless.

With both JT & Yung Miami either confirming a City Girls breakup (or at least a long hiatus), every release from either becomes load-bearing in terms of where they go from here. While City Cinderella was plenty informative on JT’s end, showcasing her ability to approximate the group’s signature sound and expand on it chiefly on her own two feet, tracks like this that give a window into her skill as a solo feature are an integral piece of the puzzle. Given the mid-tempo, 808-heavy production Gucci deploys here, it’s not super far out of the Miami rapper’s comfort zone, but adding to the Rolodex, turning in another attitude-filled performance and earning a likely Rap Caviar-type placement is a worthy endeavor.

Forever the king of “Woptober,” Gucci Mane currently has October 17th (10/17, an inextricable number for his fan base) circled for Greatest of All Trappers. In the meantime, catch “Chanel Bag” and the preceding Gucci Mane singles wherever you get your music.
