Welcome to Music Daily’s Trending Tracks, where we highlight the artists and trends occupying the music industry’s attention. Some emerge from the woodwork, and others endure a months-long crusade to greatness. Nonetheless, all of them are captivating the short-circuited minds of Gen-Z social media users.

Today, indie pop starlet Gracie Abrams climbs the chart with another sappy ballad, “I Love You, I’m Sorry,” from her sophomore effort, The Secret of Us. Drake also makes an entry on this week’s Trending Tracks chart with “Knife Talk,” his collaboration with 21 Savage and Project Pat!

“I Love You, I’m Sorry” by Gracie Abrams

Abrams’ summer love sickness is the hallmark of The Secret Of Us, which impressively climbed to No.2 on the Billboard 200 in the US. The Taylor Swift collaboration, “us.,” initially propelled the rising singer-songwriter into mainstream culture. However, the subsequent single played the long game, toppling over 122 million streams compared to the former’s 75M on Spotify.

The accompanying music video for “I Love You, I’m Sorry” opens with Abrams on a perfect beach day and follows her hanging out with friends before she launches passionately into the fan-favorite bridge. The video was written and directed by Gracie’s long-time friend and collaborator, Audrey Hobert, who also directed the music video for the album’s lead single, “Risk.” Stream “I Love You, I’m Sorry” by Gracie Abrams below!

“Knife Talk” unites Drake and 21 Savage over a menacing Metro Boomin beat, with a sampled intro from Project Pat. Initially meant for Savage’s 2020 album, SAVAGE MODE II, it landed on Drake’s 2021 viral gold mine, Certified Lover Boy. The eerie, horror-inspired video complements its dark energy. On October 25, 2023, the track was certified 5x platinum. As of September 9, “Knife Talk” has 757M streams on Spotify. Stream “Knife Talk” by Drake (feat. 21 Savage & Project Pat) below!
