This week, we are featuring rising pop artist Em Beihold. She recently released her new single “Roller Coasters Make Me Sad,” and will be supporting Lewis Capaldi on tour.
Em Beihold Takes Over the Music Scene
Em Beihold has taken over the music world by storm. Last year, her single “Numb Little Bug” was simply inescapable, going viral on every social media platform there is. It currently has amassed over 210 million streams on Spotify alone! But just as the song was taking over, she decided to team up with Stephen Sanchez for a new version of his ballad “Until I Found You,” which has also gone viral ever since. The song has been featured on tv shows, most recently Ginny and Georgia, which brought even more attention to it.
Currently, Beihold stands at an outstanding 24 million monthly listeners on Spotify. That says a lot for a new artist that most people just started listening to last year (me included.) But she has kept on releasing music since going viral, and it doesn’t look like she’s planning on stopping anytime soon.
Last summer, Beihold unveiled her debut EP Egg in the Backseat, featuring new tunes like “Porcelain,” “12345,” and “Spiderman.” Since then, she headed on tour with King Princess on the Hold on Baby tour across the United States and Canada last fall.
“Roller Coasters Make Me Sad”
Fast forward to the present, and she’s finally back with new music! “Roller Coasters Make Me Sad” is a unique track where Beihold reveals just what you read on the title of it. But what makes her sad when going on a rollercoaster ride? That’s something that the entire lyrics in the song will reveal.
“I was never one for theme parks. Forced fun with the kids before dark. Hate the lines but the worst part are the rides. It’s a capitalist frenzy. Ten dollars for an ice cream. I just wanna make my friends leave, can I?,” Beihold sings in the opening verse.
“It’s about the experience with ‘Numb Little Bug’,” Beihold shares. “On the day it dropped, the response was insane. I should’ve been happy. Instead, I felt this pressure to keep the momentum going. I knew that everything that goes up must come down. I was bracing for the fall, because it was so unbelievably good. I couldn’t just enjoy the ride. At the same time, I do hate Roller Coasters.”
She’s Joining Lewis Capaldi on Tour
Beihold is also staying busy this spring. Starting next week, she will join Lewis Capaldi on his Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent tour across North America. She’s going to perform in 15 dates out of the 25 in the tour, where Medium Build will be taken over. Check out all the dates down below!
