Elton John & Dua Lipa Unite on “Cold Heart”

Glam rock legend Elton John united with global popstar Dua Lipa for a collaborative new song, “Cold Heart.” The Australian electronic trio PNAU joined them to remix the track.

We Go Back in Time With “Cold Heart”

“Cold Heart” takes us on a time-travel journey straight back to the 80s and even 70s. With a slinky vibe, it features a nuggety bassline and a house beat. Over the top, John performs lyrics from his 1989 single “Sacrifice” and Lipa drops in with lines from Elton’s signature song from 1972, “Rocket Man.”

This is not the first time that the duo works together. Back in March, they teamed up for his annual Oscar viewing party; where Lipa and John took turns duetting with each other’s songs, including his No. 1 hit “Bennie and the Jets” and her Future Nostalgia deep cut “Love Again.” John was also one of the VIP guest stars on Lipa’s Studio 2054 live stream last year.

The music video for “Cold Heart” was directed by Blinkink director Raman Djafari. Raman uses his signature 3D stop-motion-like aesthetic, fused with 2D anime-inspired features to create a world full of celebration, dance, and joy.

Elton & Dua Appreciate Each Other

On their social media accounts, both Elton and Dua expressed how much appreciation they have for one another. Dua shared, “Cold Heart with Elton John is yours now! Elton, you are my friend and my hero and I never thought I’d be able to ever say that in a sentence. Thank you for all your love and support. Grateful to make music with you in this life.”

On the other hand, Elton shared the news prior to the single’s release. “Dua, I adore you, and it has been an incredible experience making this together. I can’t wait for you all to hear it!” In another post, he added, “This track is the culmination of a beautiful friendship with you Dua and I’m so happy we can now share it – I hope you all love it!”
