Global pop star Demi Lovato released their newest single “SKIN OF MY TEETH,” which arrives ahead of a new album and tour.
Demi Returns to Punk-Rock on “SKIN OF MY TEETH”
“SKIN OF MY TEETH” arrives via Island Records/Universal Music Canada. The song is Demi’s first solo offering since their last studio album Dancing With The Devil, released last year. But this song marks a huge milestone for the singer’s career, as they are parting ways with their pop music to return to their punk-rock roots.
“SKIN OF MY TEETH” is an electric punk track that mentions Demi’s struggles from the past year, where they have had to deal with a lot of public criticism. In the song, they reveal that they have tried to get better, but the fight never ends. “I’m alive by the skin of my teeth. I survived, but it got harder to breathe. Askin’ why doesn’t make it easier. Go easier on me,” Demi sings.
“The writing process for me was really easy,” Demi says. “The lyrics just flowed out of me and my co-writers Lil Aaron and Laura Veltz. We all had an incredible time working on this song and we’re so excited to make an anthem for people that struggle with addiction.”
Demi’s New Album HOLY FVCK is Coming in August
The single is the first release of Demi’s forthcoming 8th studio album, HOLY FVCK, arriving later this year on August 19. The 16-track album is a sonic journey grounded in Demi’s rock and pop-punk roots and illustrates an earnest yet tongue-in-cheek retrospective of their life experiences.
“The process of making this album has been the most fulfilling yet,” Demi said. “I’m grateful to my fans and collaborators for being on this journey with me. Never have I been more sure of myself and my music, and this record speaks that for itself. To my Lovatics who have been rocking out with me since the beginning and those who are just now coming along for the ride, thank you. This record is for you.”
A World Tour to Celebrate
Additionally. Demi most recently announced their upcoming HOLY FVCK Fall Tour. The 32-date world tour kicks off on August 13th in Springfield, IL at the Illinois State Fair before making stops across South and North America in Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York, Atlanta, Canada, and plenty more.
