Dear Boy are Nostalgic on “(On My) Mind”

Dear Boy, the LA-based alternative band, have released their new single, “(On My) Mind.” The track features stellar vocals and bittersweet melodies, almost reminiscent of an ’80s cult romcom. “(On My) Mind” is perhaps Dear Boy’s most important single to date, as it marks their official signing to Last Gang Records. The band, who’ve been around for nearly a decade, are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

“(On My) Mind” is a Movie Soundtrack

Dear Boy fuses alternative rock with indie and pop to create an absolutely nostalgic track. “(On My) Mind” is high-tempo with plenty of percussion, and resonates like a movie soundtrack. With honest lyrics like “It gets cold on a satellite / So hold me in your hand / You are always / You are always on my mind”, it’s easy to see why fans are raving.

Dear Boy are Masterful in Music Video

The accompanying music video for “(On My) Mind” is just as creative, and arguably even more beautiful than the track. Filmed in Boyle Heights, a bastion of Chicano culture in Los Angeles, the blue-tinted video features Dear Boy performing in an empty gym. Slow-mo shots of the band members only exaggerate what fans already know – Dear Boy are masters at their craft.

The Band Reflects

In an Instagram post advertising the song, Dear Boy writes “(On My) Mind is a special song for us. It’s about distance, & the complexities of being in love & apart. Missing someone is a whole other level of consciousness. Extreme joy & pain. A swirl of memory, dream & fantasy. But these are things that connect us to the people that we love & they’re precious. Good & bad.” It’s obvious the band enjoys their craft and are proud of how they’ve come.

More to Come from Dear Boy

The band has also been teasing upcoming releases on their social medias, as well as publicizing a tour coming this fall. Do you enjoy their new single as much as we do? Let us know in the comments!
