DAYTIME TV, a Scottish alt-rock band, just released their latest single, “jessica.”
The Story of “jessica”
DAYTIME TV just recently dropped their newest song, “jessica.” Represented by the Kartel Music Group, DAYTIME TV is a Scottish alternative rock band. Their debut album, nothing’s on but everyone’s watching, came out in 2022. “jessica” is their first release of this year.
The song has a soaring melody and an anthemic chorus—a classic DAYTIME TV move. It has an air of touching nostalgia and brings a taste of new beginnings. “Jessica” sounds like just the song to be played at summer music festivals.
In a press release for “jessica,” Will Irvine, the vocalist for DAYTIME TV, spoke about the creation of the song.
“I realised there was nothing stopping me from saying painful things out loud. That felt like a big corner to turn as a songwriter and opened up all sorts of other dark wells and distant lights. It’s been pretty mad delving into the past and digging up those nostalgic memories, for better or worse. Sometimes a happy memory can be the saddest thing because it’s gone.
I don’t like thinking about “what might have been”. It’s pointless and doesn’t help anyone, but if your brain goes there it’s hard to reel it in. That sudden feeling that you’d do anything to turn back the clock and re-run something. It can be bittersweet looking back.”
The song was recorded with Luke Potashnick at the esteemed Wool Hall, a famous recording studio near Frome, Somerset.
