via Instagram @dannybeaumusic: “MY SUMMER” came out today & it’s been in the making since 2020 so here’s some bts footage of how I made the song / how it changed over the years 🙂 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Artist Profile: Danny Beau

The Jersey-born artist fostered a loyal fanbase on TikTok, and the rest is history. There, he kept fans engaged with trends, song snippets, and rating his SubmitHub rejections. Above all, Beau documents his struggles and successes as an independent artist. For example, the creation of his first single, “21&WILD,” started as a demo in April 2021 and took five months to finish. And its release started a journey of him connecting with awesome and loyal listeners.

Now, the artist lives in Philadelphia as he finished his college career recently– congratulations! The self-producer songwriter also attributes his sound to the likes of Olivia RodrigoTroye SivanConan Gray, and Lorde, to name a few. But he is a total Swiftie and names Taylor Swift as his biggest musical inspiration.

Beau even references the Grammy-award winner in his lyrics on the feel-good “21&WILD.” He sings, “Playing Taylor Swift on the speaker loud / When I’m with you I can’t fight this smile / 21&WILD.”

So far, he has released five singles, including his recent “My Summer,” out June 1– the first day of Pride Month!

“My Summer” by Danny Beau

On this coming-out track, Beau struggles to conceal his identity and celebrates finally being himself. This single is ready-ready with snappy synths reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s 1989 and Carly Rae Jepsen‘s Emotion. Even the adlibs call back to Troye Sivan’s “Wild,” so it is obvious he studies from the greats. And he confidently produces something original, fun, and freeing.

In the first verse, he has anxiety about sticking out. He sings in a hushed voice, “Don’t ask certain questions/ Because I don’t know the answers / And every time they’re mentioned /My heart drops.” He furthers this insecurity by saying, “Still resenting myself constantly/ Wished I could change my voice to / Sound more deep I would do it instantly.”

However, the song flutters from a tremor to twinkly synths and guitar to signify growth and acceptance. In the chorus, he sings, “All of my days / Spent wishing they were over / Have made me dance the devil off my shoulder / All of my life /I dreaded getting older / But this is my summer.” On the word “dance,” his voice jumps into this bright exclaim that reenergizes the chorus and pulls the song into its celebratory ending.

This dance-pop track is a refreshing addition to Beau’s growing catalog. There’s no telling where he will go next, so make sure to check out his socials linked here.
