Pop-rock band COIN released their latest single “Cutie,” following up on October’s “Chapstick.”
COIN Explore Different Identities on “Cutie”
COIN is officially starting a new era, and we are loving it. Although there is no official word that the band’s last singles “Chapstick” and now “Cutie” are set to be part of a longer project, they have been hinting that a new album might be coming soon. And it turns out that they included both singles in a new bundle of Spotify, making fans think that something bigger is coming.
COIN’s shiny new single “Cutie” is accompanied by a video co-directed by the band’s ringleader Chase Lawrence alongside Louis Browne, whose work includes recent collaborations with Olivia Rodigo and Billie Eilish.
“Three versions of us exist at all times – the actual, superficial, and digital,” COIN said. “These identities are always changing, each one informing the other. How can we know which is even ‘real?’ How can I expect to limit someone to the context of my own self-awareness? ‘Cutie’ zooms in on control, change, and confusion. On a lighter note, the song is about AI tasting a tangerine for the first time. Throw the ingredients in the musical blender.”
They Are Joining 5 Seconds of Summer on Tour
The new music follows COIN’s headlining North American tour last year. They are also getting ready for a big year ahead of them, though. For two weeks in April, the band will join 5 Seconds of Summer in their spring tour across Ireland and the UK; with stops including Dublin, Belfast, Liverpool, and Birmingham.
Just after they finish that run, COIN will come back to the US to appear in a variety of festivals, including Atlanta’s Shaky Knees, Louisville’s Forecastle Festival, New York’s Governor’s Ball, and Manchester, TN’s Bonnaroo. All of the band’s concert dates and tickets are available here.
