Christina Aguilera Makes Return to Spanish Music With “Pa Mis Muchachas”

Music legend Christina Aguilera has made her highly-anticipated return to Spanish music. After 20 years of working solely on English music, she has released “Pa Mis Muchachas.”

Christina Recruits Becky G, Nicki Nicole, and Nathy Peluso for Big Spanish Music Comeback

The song celebrates Latina sisterhood. It features global Latin music star Becky G, Argentinian rising star Nicki Nicole and Spain-based songwriter and rapper Nathy Peluso. In the music video, the four of them connect as they dance the night away in a speakeasy.

“Pa Mis Muchachas” serves as an “homage to women,” Christina told Billboard. “We wanted to make sure that this was definitely a representation of Latin women; who are the strength of a family, the backbone,” the singer said. “In the song, we mention that I’m a woman that is strong because I was raised by a woman that was strong and so was she before that. It’s something that gets passed down by generations. I chose Nathy, Becky, and Nicki because of the strength they exude.”

She’s Finally Doing What She’s Been Wanting to For Years

Christina revealed that she’s wanted to put out more Spanish music for years. Now, she finally feels confident enough to do so. “It’s been a project that I wanted to follow up for so long. I’m so happy that it’s happening now as a grown woman,” she added. “Having been a mother, having experienced the career I have, I bring a different view and set of passions. Now it’s coming from a deeper perspective and wanting to explore. … I’m still learning too and I’m not going to back down from something I’m truly passionate about because I’m scared or I’m afraid of what people will think. This is me being me on my own journey of life. I could cry about it. It means a lot to me.”

“Pa Mis Muchachas” sets the stage for the arrival of Aguilera’s first Spanish-language album since Mi Reflejo in 2000.  The album earned Christina a Latin Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album, and notably reached No. 1 on the Billboard “Top Latin Albums” and “Latin Pop Albums” charts, becoming “the best-selling Latin pop album of 2000.” It garnered a six-time Latin platinum certification from the RIAA.
