Charlie Puth Makes Comeback With “Light Switch”

Pop superstar Charlie Puth has officially made his return to the music scene. Last Friday, he released his new single “Light Switch.”

“Light Switch” Comes With a Funny Video

The new song was produced by Charlie himself and co-written with longtime collaborator JKash and Grammy-nominated songwriter Jake Torrey. The sunny song comes with an accompanying music video, directed by Christian Breslauer (The Weeknd, Lil Nas, Doja Cat). In it, we can see Charlie turn from a man who’s struggling to move on from his ex while becoming overweight due to too much binge-watching; to a new man who works out and gets fit trying to get her back. If you watch the video, you’ll see it has a very surprising ending.

Charlie actually started teasing the song on TikTok months ago, so fans are excited it’s finally here! He says, “On the songwriting level, it was really cool to share this song with the fans while I made it, so they felt like they were involved at the very beginning of the song like they almost wrote it with me.”

Charlie’s Upcoming Album is Coming Soon

“Light Switch” arrives as Charlie’s first solo single since 2020’s “Girlfriend.” Last year, he collaborated with other artists in multiple projects, such as Elton John for “After All,” Alex Sloan for “Is It Just Me,” and blackbear for “Hard On Yourself.”

“Light Switch” is also the first offering that Charlie shares off his forthcoming third album, Charlie. Although there is no release date set for the album yet, it is said to be coming out this year! It will be released via Atlantic Records.

“The album is done. This is by far the most exciting happity, uppity, lyrical piece,” Charlie shared on Audacy Check In. “So the rest of the album is what I went through in the years 2018 to 2020, which I didn’t tell anybody about but you’ll figure it out when you listen to the songs.”
