Charli XCX and Tove Lo: Two Musical Teases
Fans of Charli XCX and Tove Lo need to thank Instagram for being such an insightful platform. The app has allowed XCX to share teasers into her life, her style, and, of course, her career. Her latest tease? Yet another collaboration with fellow legendary popstar, Tove Lo.
Charli XCX posted a silly, springtime photo of her with Tove Lo to Instagram on Saturday, April 3. “[Tove Lo] and i have been out in Palm Springs writing songs together for a week (tested and safe) and we been making the best music ever!!!!! excited for u guys to hear things,” her upbeat caption read.
She also shared a video of Tove Lo doing yoga in between writing sessions. Who knew yoga was a good way to get the creative juices flowing? Apparently this talented duo!
Charli XCX and Tove Lo have also been on songs alongside one another, recording wise. This is not counting the numerous tracks they’ve written together for each other’s albums, as well as for other people. On Charli XCX’s critically acclaimed mixtape Pop 2, the duo collaborated on “Out of My Head.” The song is one of the most notable from the album, as it is the biggest collaboration.
The pair also worked on a single for Tove Lo alongside Icona Pop, Elliphant, and Alma in 2019. The success of both songs is immense, tracking millions of streams on all platforms – including YouTube for their music videos.
Both Charli XCX and Tove Lo have an extensive catalog. As songwriters, pop stars, artistic figures in media, and genuine musicians, they are always creating. Because of this, they have branched outside of solo careers and worked with other talented forces. This includes friends, idols, and more.
Neither artist is a stranger to collaborations. If anything, it seems like both welcome it as creativity is able to spike with more minds and perspectives brought to the table.
Duets, Collabs, and Remixes – Oh My!
Charli XCX, over the course of her career, has worked with everyone in the art pop and indie rock worlds. She’s also dabbled in EDM, dance music, urban pop, and more. Some of her most notable collaborations have been with The 1975, HAIM, and Troye Sivan. Clairo, Cardi B, CupcakKe, French Montana, and tens of others have been featured alongside Miss XCX. Just a handful of the stellar remixes of her work have been by world-renowned producers and DJs. Diplo, Phantogram, and Jax Jones are only a few.
Similarly, Tove Lo has worked with everyone from Icona Pop to Kylie Minogue and everyone in between. Wiz Khalifa, Doja Cat, and Martin Garrix I have also worked with the beloved singer-songwriter. The list goes on and on. Diving into her remixed work means once again coming across Jax Jones, but also The Chainsmokers. The Chainsmokers’ career as DJs and producers is only one aspect of what they do. Working with them means getting close to the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer and Halsey.
Together, Charli XCX and Tove Lo are unstoppable. Knowing that they are working together is outstanding news. The music industry has been yearning for delectable, danceable pop music. Dua Lipa is keeping it alive, but the return of Charli XCX and/or Tove Lo will allow it to remain. Fans, critics, and the world seems to be watching and waiting for the next move from Charli XCX and Tove Lo.
